- LINE MANGA’s webcomic series “A Man’s Man” exceeds 115 million yen in monthly GMV
- LINE MANGA proves its strong competitiveness as a webcomics platform, through continued launch of successful titles grossing over 100 million yen in monthly GMV
LINE MANGA saw yet another webcomic title in its library surpass 100 million yen in monthly GMV.
“A Man’s Man,” a digital comics series published in LINE MANGA (written by Ha Neulso, art by Dogado and original work by Lucas) raised 115 million yen in GMV in March alone.
The celebrated title debuted on WEBTOON in 2020 and has since then topped the daily WEBTOON chart with an immersive storyline, high-quality illustrations and top-notch production. The main character, solely focused on his career success, rises through the ranks to become the CEO of a renowned company. Yet, he is suddenly taken back to the days when he was an entry-level employee, and goes through a series of events which makes him a totally different person. It is a webcomic adaptation of the namesake webnovel written by Lucas. The webcomic adaptation was planned and produced by Jaedam Media, a comics production company. Also, Studio N, a subsidiary of WEBTOON specialized in anime/film/TV adaptation of webcomics, is producing a drama adaptation of this title.
“A Man’s Man” is serviced not only in Korean but also in English, Japanese, Indonesian and Thai, through the global platform of WEBTOON, and it has been especially successful in Japan—which has a similar working culture to Korea— with the hyper-realistic portrayal of the pleasures and sorrows of office workers, combined with a well-crafted resolution of conflicts throughout the narrative. The title even topped men’s webcomics ranking in LINE MANGA in March.
Sinbae Kim, the Chief Growth Officer of LINE Digital Frontier operating LINE MANGA commented “LINE MANGA’s competitive content library and efforts to expand touch points with readers seem to have contributed to a series of successful titles. We will make sure that our titles effectively reach out to the international audience through WEBTOON’s global platform, including LINE MANGA, so that they can garner even more profit and rise to international fame.”
LINE MANGA is seeing a growing number of its titles breaking the 100 million mark—its webcomic series “Teenage Mercenary,” “The Remarried Empress” and “Kidnapped Bride” surpassed 100 million yen in monthly GMV in 2023, and “Savior of Divine Blood,” a Japanese original title, hit 120 million yen in monthly GMV in January 2024.
Nam-yong Hwang, President of Jaedam Media, said “Ha Neulso and Dogado’s ability to adapt and re-produce the outstanding original work, coupled with LINE MANGA’s unique strengths, seem to have driven the huge success of A Man’s Man in Japan. Yet, we won’t fall into complacency—we will continue to generate additional success stories to build competitiveness in the global market.”
Meanwhile, Line Digital Frontier achieved its largest ever GMV in Japan through LINE MANGA and ebookjapan, exceeding 100 billion JPY in just 11 months last year.
